Laundry Project

During the November 2003 visit to the Orphanage, the team were shown the laundry room and were shocked at the condition of the large washing machine and drying facilities. As you can see, the washing machine is in a very sorry state of repair and desperately needs replacing. The whole laundry room needs redecorating / tiling and proper drying facilities like a tumble dryer. Many of the washed clothes were laid on top of radiators to dry and looked as though they had not even been cleaned.

A New Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer

Yet again, due to the generosity of many people, we have been able to purchase a new Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer for the Orphanage.

The machines were delivered and installed during the team's
 November 2004 visit.

The Machines arrive on the back of a truck.

Problem - they are too heavy to lift off by hand!!!

Somebody has a friend who owns a forklift truck - the problem is, they have no way of getting it there.

Problem solved - They drive the forklift from the other side of town to the Orphanage.

After a delay due to the forklift getting stuck in the mud, the first machine is manoeuvred to the laundry door.

A delighted Director of the Orphanage turns the machine on.

The new machines will make a considerable difference to the quality of life for both the children and the staff who run the laundry.
