Toilet Block Project

The Old Toilets
These are real pictures of the toilets that the children of the Berkovitsa orphanage used to suffer every day of their lives. We wanted the children to have clean and safe toilets built to the standards we enjoy. No living person should have to use facilities like this. The sight alone may be off putting to some but to be there and actually see and smell it is an entirely different experience. There is no proper sewage or drainage either. We wanted this knocked down!!!

So what did we do?
We set ourselves a target of raising £20,000 to enable a new toilet / classroom block to be built adjacent to the existing classroom building. The extension would give the children the all important 'Indoor, Hygienic toilets' (Something we all take for granted). It would also give them a shower block and two new classrooms.

Many charity and fundraising events were organised to raise the money. We also received some very generous donations from individuals, companies and groups of people - £4100 was raised from a charity auction hosted by the Meadows Shopping centre. Visit the media page and see the numerous newspaper articles.
